This half term our topic is Road Trip Rio!
This half term our topic is Road Trip to Rio!
During this half term, children will be learning about Brazilian carnivals. They will explore Brazilian fruits, crafts and dances. We will be reading lots of poems and trying to recite some from heart. Using these as inspiration, we will create our own poems. Our maths will be learning place value to 100, telling the time and using money.
In computing, we will be programming animations – using scratchJr. Please feel free to download ScratchJr App for tablets (iPad or Android), or install ScratchJr for computers (https://jfo8000.github.io/ScratchJr-Desktop/). We will be using world maps to identify the UK and Brazil and locate other countries, as well as the continents and oceans. We will also identify similarities and differences between physical and human features of the UK and Brazil.
In design and technology, we will be making fruit kebabs and we will be asking if you could come along and help us in class with these.
We will be learning athletic skills and playing target games. Also we will be observing changes in the environment and much more!

Jigsaw - Our Jigsaw theme is Changing Me!

We will be learning about changes in our lives, changes in what we have learnt and what it will be like in year 2 and naming body parts.
There is a wonderful website below that is useful for your child and for you as a parent. It has games and information about feelings, health, illnesses and sections on body image, mental health and much more. There is also a section for you, the parent, to refer to for information on the school nurse and it shows local Solihull support services.
