SUPERHEROES

"Not all superheroes wear capes..."

Forget Batman and Superwoman, we'll be learning all about real-life superheroes who changed the lives of many people with their acts of kindness, determination and courage.  We'll begin by looking at the achievements of Neil Armstrong and then learning all about the work of Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell, the 'nurturing nurses'.  Perhaps their stories will inspire us to do great things and change the world for the better!

Marvellous Maths!

This half-term, our focus will be addition and subtraction.  Try these fun games to support your learning!

  • 1-minute maths This FREE app is fantastic to develop children's fluency. It follows the 'White Rose' scheme which we use in school and will complement learning perfectly!
  • Top Marks Maths Games This site has a range of topic-related games for children to play. Have a look at the 'money' games and the 'multiplication and division' games - good luck! (Please note, children in Year 2 cover the 2, 5 and 10 times tables only).
  • Nrich challenges If your child needs an extra stretch, try some of these multiplication and division problems.
  • BBC Bitesize - Money
  • BBC Bitesize - Multiplication and Division

Exciting English!

Super Science

This half-term our topic is 'Living Things'.  We will consider the characteristics of living things and the differences between things that are alive, dead or those things that have never been alive.  We will also consider why plants are classed as 'living things'.

Jigsaw - 'Dreams and Goals'

This half-term we will learn the following:

- To know that a goal is something I want to achieve and understand that small steps can me made to meet these over time

- To understand that ‘doing well’ means seeing progress in anything that I do

- To understand that working with others will help me as they may know things I do not

- To know that contributing to a group and helping them can make me feel happy and proud

- To know that working cooperatively means listening to others as well as giving my own ideas.
