Year 3
Welcome to Year 3
Mr Swain, Mrs Draysey and Mrs Goddard
Flow
Our topic this half term is called Flow! The children will learn about rivers, from source to mouth, naming some common features along a river course such as meanders.
The class will reinforce this learning by studying the river Cole near Sarehole Mill. They will have an opportunity to see their learning in the 'real world' and learn from an expert.
Science
In science, we will revisit the children's knowledge of plants by naming parts of flowers. Using this understanding we will complete a fair comparative test so that they can focus on their development of creating a test by changing one variable. In addition, the class will gain more knowledge of how plants live by investigating how water moves through a plant - transpiration.

Relationships
This half term Year 3 will be exploring the relationships they have with members of their families. Using these relationships they will consider how they can be positive and supportive friends - what are the qualities of a good friendship? Once they have considered their personal relationships they will learn about being a 'global citizen' - how do other people and cultures affect their lives.
Additionally, they will consider other types of relationships they might have now and/or in the future through communication via the internet and internet enabled devices.
There is a wonderful website below that is useful for your child and for you as a parent. It has games and information about feelings, health, illnesses and sections on body image, mental health and much more. There is also a section for you, the parent, to refer to for information on the school nurse and it shows local Solihull support services.
