Autumn 1
Stone Age, Bronze Age or Iron age?
This term, the children will delve into prehistory, exploring the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. They will learn to use BC, AD, and centuries to place these periods in context, while also exploring connections between different societies and understanding the reasons behind key historical events, situations, and changes. By comparing the similarities and differences between these periods, the children will eventually decide which age they would prefer to live in.
This half term in Science, the children will compare and group different types of rocks based on their appearance and simple physical properties. They will also learn how fossils are formed when living things become trapped within rock. Additionally, they will understand that soils are made from a combination of rocks and organic matter.

In this Puzzle unit, the children will recognise their self-worth by identifying positive aspects of themselves and their achievements. They will discuss facing new challenges with positivity, the importance of rules, and how these relate to rights and responsibilities. Additionally, they will explore choices, consequences, collaboration, empathy, and learn to recognise different feelings in themselves and others.
There is a wonderful website below that is useful for your child and for you as a parent. It has games and information about feelings, health, illnesses and sections on body image, mental health and much more. There is also a section for you, the parent, to refer to for information on the school nurse and it shows local Solihull support services.
