Spring 2
Antarctica
This half term, we will be learning about Antarctica, exploring its climate, the reasons people live there and past expeditions conducted in the region. Additionally, we will carry out our own expedition around the school. We will be reading The Last Bear by Hannah Gold and will be writing balanced arguments, letters and detailed descriptions.
This half term in science, we will be learning all about forces and magnets! We will explore how things move, what makes them speed up or slow down, and how different surfaces affect movement through friction. We’ll also discover the amazing invisible power of magnetic forces, learning how magnets attract or repel objects and how a magnetic field works.

Jigsaw PSHE - Healthy Me
We will be able to explain why our bodies are truly amazing by understanding their incredible functions, resilience, and abilities. Additionally, we will explore and identify a variety of ways to keep our bodies safe and healthy. This includes maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, practicing good hygiene, getting enough rest and making safe choices in our daily lives. By learning about these essential habits, we can appreciate the importance of taking care of our bodies and ensuring overall well-being.
There is a wonderful website below that is useful for your child and for you as a parent. It has games and information about feelings, health, illnesses and sections on body image, mental health and much more. There is also a section for you, the parent, to refer to for information on the school nurse and it shows local Solihull support services.
